Borja Bonaque Alandi. Illustrator.

Borja Bonaque Alandi is a talented young designer and illustrator from Valencia, Spain. His artwork have a distinct retro feel to it and sometime reminds me the American illustrator Chris Ware. Check out his portfolio for more great illustration. Thank you to Mr. Alandi for answering the questions.

Q. Where do you get your inspiration from?
A. It’s a difficult question… sometimes from a movie, sometimes from a photo or when i see a color combination….or sometimes the inspiration just cames to me.

Q. How do you describe your style?
A. I try to do a clean style whit clear shapes…the only thing that I know is that I can’t do the same thing all the time.

Q. Who are your favorite artists?
A. There’s a lot of people talented in this world…from Jim Flora to Akira Toriyama..for example..imagine the spectrum..

Q. How long does it took for you to finish a certain projects?
A. It depens..I can be 1 or 2 days in the process of a poster, but when I have the idea I really fast.

Q. Have you done any collaboration with other artist or company?
A. Well, I’ve work in Sapin with some companies, I’m still studying, I’m 24 years old and my portfolio is not really international, but what I can say to you that right now I’m working on something special.

Q. Who do you want to work with in the future?
A. I don’t know..I’d like to work with any companies related to art and design…Nike will be fine, hehe.

Q. Do you do an extensive planning before starting on a certain project or you like to just do it, improvise and add on new ideas while doing it?
A. I think that i in the middle of those process..I like to improvise…but when I have something good in my mind the process can be very fast.

Q. what do you think are the most important things one should have to become a successful artist?
A. You must have the talent an hard working.
