Goodnight Electric. Synth pop hero from Indonesia.

The synth-pop trio, GOODNIGHT ELECTRIC was once nominated as one of the “best newcomers” at the 2005 MTV Indonesia Music Awards. Fast forward to 2009. Their songs and sound are still as fun and fresh as ever. Thank you for answering my questions.

Q.You guys look like a cross over between the Happy Mondays, Devo, Beastie Boys and Kraftwork, in a more energetic and hip kindda way. Why synthpop?
A. Because it is unique and we can explore a lot of sounds but still inside pop genre

Q. You guys have performed in Malaysia before. how do you compare the music scene here with the scene in Indonesia?
A. The spirit it is not too different from us but Indonesian musician is one step ahead from Malaysia because the government system in Indonesia is more flexible then Malaysia.

Q. Which part of Indonesia are you guys originally from?
A. We were born and brought-up in Jakarta

Q. How do you describe your style? Do you have any particular signiture sound and how are your influences?
A. We are living in the middle of many urban styles and we are influenced by a lot of bands.

Q. Do we have a closet Siti Nurhaliza or Michael Jackson fans here among you guys? Any chance you guys mixing songs for Inul Daratista?
A. Our girlfriends do look a lilttle bit like Siti Nurhaliza and they can dance like michael jackson, can you imagine that? Why not do a remix for Inul Daratistas’ song, she is a good artist and the best exotic dancer around. I think we will called the project E.D.G.E (eynul daratista goodnightelectric)

Q. What with the matching retro Adidas outfit?
A. It matched our cheerfuly sound and we want to make people dance and play football whenever they listed to it.

Q. So, how do you guys meet and who came up with the name Goodnight Electric?
A. It all started when Henry Foundation wanted to make some fun project with the electro music in 2003. He released Goodnight Electric first album which was called Love and turbo action. The album attracted many good reaction from the market and the local artist. On that same year, after the release of the first album Oomleo and Bondy goodboy joined Henry to form the current Goodnight Electric’s line-up.

Q. What do you guys like to do to chill out?
A. Painting, riding scooter, traveling and eat boiled egg.

Q. What are your future plans?
A. We are still building GETV station on youtube and create more sounds for our the third album
