In our ongoing series of interviews with inspirational people from around the world, today I would like to introduce Mr.Rodolfo Biglie, an illustrator, graphic and web designer from Argentina but currently living in Prague, The Czech Republic. Highly talented and imaginative, his works are oozing with freshness and professionalism. Thank you to Mr. Biglie for answering my questions.

Q. Where do you get your inspiration from?
A. I get it from thinking about how “normal” things can be different… From books, regardless if they’re novels or about science… From movies, Hollywood bullshit or documentaries… Everything is an influence.

Q. To date, what is the toughest assignment that you have done so far?
A. Managing both the Creative and IT departments of an international interactive advertising agency, for sure.

I was the head of production for Mather Advertures in Prague. Having to communicate in a second language with more than twenty other people who were also communicating in a second language was a challenge. I had to take and give
direction based on context and body language. It was a big learning experience, both professionally and personally.

Q. Who are your favorite artists?
A. Duchamp, Leonardo, Kandinsky, Pollock, El Greco, Rembrandt, artist from the Renaissance…

Q. So far, what is the most interesting project that you have been involved in?
We conceptualized and executed a multi?language web site and campaign for Avril Lavigne, the singer, for her fragrance, Black Star. It spoke to her community of fans, letting them interact with her and making them feel part of her world, regardless of what country they came from.

Q. Have you done any collaboration with other artist or company? Who do you want to work with in the future?
A. Yes, I work with a lot of different agencies in the Czech Republic and in Spain.

Q. What are the things that you would never leave home without?
A. I could never leave home without kissing my son and my wife at breakfast. If I leave home without my iPhone, I have to go back and get it, but I’m not angry. It gives me another chance to kiss my son and my wife goodbye for the day.

Q. Do you do an extensive planning before starting on a certain project or you like to just do it, improvise and add on new ideas while doing it?
A. When I get a brief, I do a lot of research on the needs and the goals of the project. Once I know what is needed, and what the framework is, then I can play around with the details and come up with something creative and effective.

Q. What do you think are the most important things one should have to become a successful designer?
A. You design for your clients ?? and the clients of your clients – it’s not only about you and your portfolio

Good design is an effective solution to a problem, issue or need (see above)

Your ego is fuel… but, without an engine, fuel is nothing but a smelly liquid… it can become your worst enemy… especially if someone lights a match…

Q. What are your future plans and projects?
A. My family and I are moving to Barcelona in the beginning of 2010. It will be a new cycle for me, both professionally and personally, and I am looking forward to it as it opens up the doors to new challenges.
